January 2, 2008

PRESS RELEASE

AARP Issues Joint Review of Secret Wisdom with Publishers Weekly, Calling It “What Our Generation Wants to Read”

Two leading publications have issued a joint review of The Secret Wisdom of a Woman’s Body in their “Books for Grown-Ups” short online list of featured books that AARP (the magazine) calls “what our generation wants to read.”

AARP is the most widely read publication for people over 50, and Publishers Weekly is among the top-rated book review publications. Their reviews are among the most sought after by authors and publishers.

The Secret Wisdom was also recently reviewed by the Minneapolis recovery publication, The Phoenix Spirit.

The book is a revolutionary new guide for midlife and older women to help them uncover the emotional and spiritual riches in their body as they age. Author Pat Samples is a transformational educator and author on conscious aging, body wisdom, and family caregiving. She is the author of seven other self-help-books.

Review from AARP and Publishers Weekly
(a joint review in their “Books for Grown-Ups” online feature)

In this guide to health through self-awareness, author, speaker and “transformational educator” Samples parses a dynamic range of advice, exercises and personal stories that will help readers tap “the emotional brilliance” of the aging body. Suitable for open-minded men as well.

Review from The Phoenix Spirit

Every life has stories mistold, stories approached watchfully, stories never finished, and truth of its own, hidden even from ourselves. The Secret Wisdom of a Woman’s Body begins with these sage words. With this guide, the reader is invited to open herself to an experience of self-discovery through the activities presented. This transformation begins with developing new awareness and appreciation of your body and learning to listen when your body is trying to tell you something. Once you trust your body as a teacher, you can learn from childhood memories, past traumas, and other personal stories. Do you constantly have tense shoulders? Is there an ache in your jaw that won’t go away? Let your body tell you what it needs. Personal discovery stories from the author and many other women about relief from traumatic or ongoing distress are truly inspirational. Directing readers to then create with abandon, Pat Samples offers fun exercises and activities that will inspire a new level of exploration, spark your creativity, and rejuvenate your spirit.
